Home grown and locally sourced produce, whenever possible

All of our products are made from fresh fruit and vegetables. We only make in small batches, using only the best of what we grow and source locally. There are no artificial additives, preservatives, thickeners or colours used in our products, (except for a little cornflour in the piccalilli).

Marmalade

Our marmalade range is a celebration of handcrafted, small-batch quality, made using carefully selected citrus fruits and traditional methods refined over more than 30 years. Each jar is cooked with natural ingredients, using no additives or artificial thickeners. This process creates vibrant, full-bodied flavours that reflect true artisan craftsmanship. From classic Seville orange to richer, darker and multi-fruit variations, every marmalade showcases Cakebole’s dedication to purity, depth of flavour and award-winning excellence.

Jam

Our jams are handcrafted in small batches using fresh, seasonal fruit picked from the orchard and garden – anything extra is sourced from our excellent farm shops and local suppliers. With no artificial additives, colours or preservatives, each jar captures the pure, vibrant flavour of the fruit, cooked gently to preserve its natural sweetness and texture. From classic strawberry and raspberry to rich blackcurrant and other seasonal favourites, these jams deliver a truly homemade taste that elevates every breakfast table and sweet treat.

Chutney

Our chutneys bring together home-grown and locally sourced produce to create rich, flavourful accompaniments made with the same small-batch, additive-free ethos. Each chutney is slowly cooked to develop depth, warmth and balance, offering everything from traditional spiced blends to seasonal varieties bursting with character. Crafted with care and natural ingredients, these chutneys add a vibrant, homemade touch to any cheese board or hearty meal.

Jelly

Cakebole Orchard’s herb jellies are beautifully clear and delicately flavoured. Crafted in small batches without artificial additives, using home grown fruit and fresh herbs, each jelly captures an essence of the individual herb, suspended in an apple and spirit vinegar jelly. Our redcurrant jelly is a classic accompaniment to many traditional dishes, made with home grown, jewel bright redcurrants, sugar and nothing else. All of the jellies showcase Cakebole’s commitment to purity, balance and traditional artisan methods.

My Story

I'm Annie Watson and have been making jellies, jams and chutneys for over thirty years from fruit and vegetables sourced mainly from the orchard, hedgerows and garden. The recipes have been developed and refined over the years and include some original recipes handed down by my Canadian grandmother. The orchard, hedgerow and garden produce is grown without the use of chemical sprays or artificial fertilisers but is not certified organic, and any extra produce needed is sourced from local farm shops (with a few exceptions, oranges and mangos don’t grow well at Cakebole!) Seasonal variation will sometimes affect supply but alongside the usual range there are normally a few experimental products to add variety and interest.
